John-Felipe Cachero

People know me as Jeff, but my real name is John-Felipe. I was born and raised 1986-Present day in Houston, TX despite it’s hot and humid here (it gets too damn sticky!). Since I was a kid, I always loved drawing and making art. From that point, I just continued drawing which ultimately enhanced my skills as my life progressed. As a kid, I also expressed much intrigue for stop-motion animation, and actually understood the entire concept even at my early age. I’ve always loved watching movies with my family, from comedy to horror, and even memorized movie-quotes for fun. I began to edit movies by hooking up two VCRs, constantly recording, rewinding, and forwarding – mixing movie scenes into something so ridiculous, it was hilarious. It was the beginning of a hobby (or maybe career). I wasn’t always the crazy ass guy you see in any of our Bastos Episodes, but rather that shy guy who never really talked to anyone unless spoken to. Ironically, I always tried to be the class clown since elementary school – until this day. As high school was coming to an end, I really didn’t know what direction to take. I always told myself that building a career in art would make it hard to make a living, so what did I do? I graduated high school in 2004 and I went off as a medical major, but it just didn’t feel like the right place for me. I tried to major in business, since that was the next best stereo-typical career for an Asian-American, but again – it just didn’t feel like my place. Finally, spring 2007, I returned to my artistic roots and took up something where both my imagination and humor had no limits – Film! So here I am with the ever-so-popular Bastos Team doing what we do best, and continuing to do what my natural talent was set to do.
